Our mountain- and skiguides

Edward Bekker Ski & Alpinisme only works with certified IVBV/UIAGM/IFMGA mountain- and skiguides and aspirant guides. These guides are all members of IFMGA, the international Federation of Mountain Guides Association. IFMGA mountain guides guarantee quality, professionalism and a maximum of safety. Only highly motivated and talented candidates succeed in obtaining the diploma of certified IFMGA mountain guide, after a 4 years' training scheme, allowing them to guide mountain- and off piste ski tours all over the world.

All of our mountain guides have extensive experience all over the world and will be happy to tell you about their adventures. As a specialist they will always choose the best route, take you to the most beautiful and remote places and show you the best restaurants. The guides are at least bi-langual. English is the first language.

edward

Edward

Head guide and in charge of the general management of your trip and our company is Edward Bekker, who will act as your guide during many of the mentioned trips. But since Edward can only be at one place at a time and several programs are planned parallelly, it is possible that your trip will be guided by one of our other mountain guides, listed below.

Edward speaks Dutch, French, English and German.

steve jones

Steve

Originally from England, Steve has lived for more than 25 years in the Alps and recently even became a Swiss citizen. He is one of the most experienced expert British guides who trained numerous aspirant guides, mainly in his specialty: avalanche studies. He is a passionate skier and skitourer and knows all the secret places in the western part of the Alps by heart.

Steve lives in the Swiss mountainresort of Leysin and is married to the Dutch skiteacher Françoise. Steve speaks English and French.

pierre

Pierre

Pierre is not only a certified IFMGA mountain- and skiguide but also a French ESF skiteacher. He therefore is one of our best guides to lead our all-mountain-instruction programs.

Together with his wife Nathalie and their two girls he lives in Vallorcine, between the Swiss border and the French resort of Chamonix. The Mont Blanc area is his home, where he will find the best off piste descends.

In summertime Pierre leads many of our Mont Blanc climbs.

Pierre speaks French and English.

roelandvanoss

Roeland

The Dutchman Roeland finished the first part of the mountain guide training in Germany in 2010. Since then he is an aspirant guide. As part of his training, he works at Edward Bekker Ski & Alpinisme with Edward as one of his 'Lehrherrs'.

Roeland lives with his partner and British aspirant guide Tania in Chamonix. He worked during 9 winters as a skiteacher in St. Anton and Les Deux Alpes. He also took part in expeditions, among others to K2.

He assists in all kinds of trips in the Alps and guides all mountain instruction courses in Chamonix as well as the Mont Blanc climbs.

Roeland speaks Dutch, English, French and German.

jorn

Jörn

Jörn is not only a mountain- and skiguide, he also has a master's degree in pedagogy. Training and sharing his knowledge is therefore one of his specialties. His climbing resumé shows many impressive expeditions and climbs all over the world.

Jörn lives in Freiburg, Germany and for Edward Bekker Ski & Alpinisme he leads expedition trainings, climbs, glacier treks and skitouring weeks.

Jörn speaks German, English and French.

manuel-apero

Manuel

Manuel is part of our team since 2009. From his native country Argentina, where he runs a guide agency in El Chalten, Patagonia, he travels to Chamonix every summer in order to use his latin charme to guide mountaineering courses, glacier treks and (Mont Blanc) climbs. He occasionaly even serves the aperitif!

Manuel speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

portrait_patou

Patou

His passport says his name is Patrick, but no one calls him by his real name. Patou received his IFMGA certificate in 1992. From 1998 to 2006 he was in charge of the security at the ski area of Leysin, the Swiss ski resort where he still lives with his wife and two children. Patou is an all round guide and loves off piste skiing, skitouring, iceclimbing, rockclimbing and beautiful alpine climbs to high peaks. He is also a certified skiteacher.

Patou guides several off piste and skitouring programs, all over Switzerland.

Patou speaks French, German and English

Other guides who work for us are Samuel, Fabian, Giuseppe, Philippe (Filou), Eric and others
