Edward Bekker 25 years mountain- and skiguide
Monday, 04 June 2012 08:59

On June 4, 1987, today exactly 25 years ago, Edward Bekker received his certificate as 'Staatlich Geprüfter Berg- und Skiführer' at the Technical University in Munich and became Holland's first UIAGM/IVBV/IFMGA certified mounain- and skiguide! In that very same year, Edward Bekker Ski & Alpinisme was founded.
Ever since, almost every day Edward is outdoors skiing, climbing and mountainbiking, guiding his guests on the most beautiful mountains all over the 7 continents. Without ever having experienced a serious accident, neither himself, nor in his company, we might say that this is a real milestone to celebrate!
Edward is celbrating is jubilee with a skitouring expedition to Muztagh Ata in China this summer. Visit the expeditions website!

Laatste afdaling naar het fjord.... 11 mei 2012
After a long winter we finally stored our skis only yesterday! We've finished winterseason in an unforgettable way: with a powder skitouring trip above our own chalet at Emosson lake!
The last couple of weeks, Edward was however way further north: with our freeride and skitouring roadtrip through Swedish Lapland and Northern Norway (Abisko, Narvik, Tromsø, Lyngen Alps) followed by a week of ski & sail in the fjords around Alta, Finnmark. Still super snowconditions with snow until the fjord. Click for the images.
From May 20 to 27 mei we are travelling in the Netherlands. During this period you can reach us through our Dutch office: +31 (0)45 405 18 23.
We have still some free spaces for our summer program, click for an overview.
Thank you everybody for a great winterseason and see you next time somewhere in the mountains!
Still winter in the Lyngen Alps and Finnmark
Sunday, 06 May 2012 22:14
Last friday we finished our freeride & skitour trip above the Polar Circle with a beautiful skitour to Storgalten in the Lyngen Alps. Enjoy the images of this successfull trip.

Last skitour of this season om May 11, 2012
At this moment we are aboard a beautifull sailing boat , from where we make daytrips to summits above the fjords in the region of Finnmark, Northern Norway. While at home in the Alps slowly spring is taking over, we find ourselves here still in winter. Click the picture or this link for an impression of our Ski & Sail trip aboard.
Because both Edward and Ilse are on board, our office in Switzerland is closed for the moment. We try to answer your e-mails when we can. Thank you for your understanding.
End of winterseason in the Alps - on our way to the North!

haute route from April 8-14, 2012
Although we still have lots of snow in the Alps, we've closed our winterseason in the Alps with a haute route from Zermatt to Chamonix. Unortunately weather was not so great and due to huge amounts of snow and high avalanche danger we wer forced to quit the journey. The trip was however still a big success as we were able to make some great freeride descents!
Winter 2011-2012 was a beautilful season in the Alps with, except for one or two weeks, more than enough snow and excellent conditions. One of our most successfull programs was again the Powderhound weeks from our own Bekker Chalet. The possibilities from here are almost unlimited and next year we will, besides our other programs and destinations, more of those. We have already started planning our winter 2012-2013 season, coming soon on this website!
But before its time for next winter, we first finish this one up North. Starting with a week freeriding and skitouring between Kiruna in Sweden and Norway's Lyngenalps, followed by a week Ski & Sail near Alta in Norway. So still some more skiing!
Our summerprogram in the Alps is now online. We are still working on some extra trips, so in case you have special requests, please let us know!
