Monte Rosa - classic (CH - I)
Graduate acclimatization - technically simple, physically challengingAt the Swiss-Italian border there are numerous high snow and ice peaks. In 5 days you can climb 5 different four-thousanders! immen! No wonder this trip is one of the most popular ones in our program. A beautiful glacier trip in the hart of Valais with climbs in the mountain massif that is second in height to Mont Blanc.
Although this trip gradually adepts to the height, we recommend to do some alpine walking a few days prior to the course, to acclimatize. Enjoy the contrast of climbing the vast white glaciers in the high mountains and the green valleys, woods and typical Italian mountain villages of the valley of Ayas.
The meeting point is in the Mattertal where you can park your car for free at the hotel. The next morning we will take the taxibus to Zermatt. From the Schwarzsee (2583 m) we will walk to the nice Gandegg hut (3029 m) practising the use of crampons on our way. The following day we will climb the Breithorn (4164 m) and then descent to the beautiful Val d’Ayas where we will stay the night in Resy (2072 m) with showers and an excellent kitchen. Via the Colle di Bettaforca we will get in the valley of Gressoney and we will climb to the tastefully renovated Rif. Mantova (3401 m), starting point for attacking the Vincent Pyramide (4245 m), Balmenhorn (4167 m), Ludwigshöhe (4341 m) and Signalkuppe (4554 m). Time for a ‘cappuccino’ in the Rif. Margherita, Europe's highest mountain hut (4554 m)!

The descent of the forked Grenz glacier is exhausting, but breathtaking. After our final night in the new ultramodern Monte Rosa hut (2795 m) we will take our time to descent to Zermatt. Dinner and night in the valley.
This trip is suited for advanced mountaineers. The nights will be spent in Italian and Swiss mountain huts and twice in an hotel in comfortable modern dortoirs with shower and toilet.
