St Jacques - Champoluc Monte Rosa Superski

Monte Rosa Freeride Safari in de dalen van Ayas, Gressoney en Alagna  NIEUW

alagna2010

Super ski from St-Jacques - Champoluc (I) - NEW

At the foot of the huge Italian Monte Rosa massif you can still find some unknown ski resorts between 1200 and 3550 m altitude and with great off piste opportunities. We start in the small town of st-Jacques in a nice hotel. From here the slopes of Frachey are not far.  In winter this is the place for true powder fanatics. The steep and more difficult descents of the Monte Rosa ski area can be found in and around Alagna and Gresoney, which both can be reached on skis.

This tour offers an interesting option for those who have seen Chamonix, Engelberg or La Grave and are ready for a new experience. We can choose between high altitude glaciers and beautiful forests and, if possible, we will "attack" a couloir before descending on a typical Italian restaurant. If necessary, we can find hidden side valleys with the help of skins under our skis.....And with good weather conditions and the optimal group size, heliskiing is possible. From Alagna brand new lifts give us access to the valleys of Gressoney and Ayas. In 2010 the new lift to Punta Indren at 3275 m was opened. From this altitude some unique freeride descents start! We will probably spend one night in the elevated Rifugio Guglielmina (2880 m) with Italian specialty cuisine and beautiful wines! From there you see the twinkling lights of Lago Maggiore, if the weather is clear.

From here also heliski in a great option. It is supercool to be picked up by a heli early in the morning near the hut and be dropped off far beyond 4000m altitude on Colle Lyss or Punta Gnifetta with stunning views on Matterhorn and Lisskamm. In excellent conditions, we can enjoy the long run towards Zermatt and get back to Ayas by the lift system. An unforgettable day!

We will stay in a hotel of good standard with 2 and 3 bedrooms. The hotel is situated in Alagna close to the lift.  We will be served excellent Italian meals, not surprisingly.
