Secret Places: ski touring from Andermatt

Ski tours from Andermatt have been in our program for years. For example from Andermatt to the Simplon pass and from Andermatt to Engelberg. Because the original routes have to be changed all the time, our guides keep exploring new possibilities, which is why this ski tour is called Secret Places. After having considered snow and weather conditions and after a day of skiing and touring on the Gemsstock, we will choose whether we will go towards Simplon in the west, Engelberg and Sustenhorn in the north, Disentis in the east or Maighels in the south.

This is what makes Andermatt in the canton of Uri, situated high on the crossroads of Gotthard, Oberalp and Furka pass, so unique. With lots of possibilities and lots of snow. We just choose what is best. The nights will be spent in hotels/guest houses and mountain huts. The tour is moderately difficult technically, but as the level of fitness is concerned, it can be compared to the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt. You should be able to descent easily in all sorts of snow without falling. The ski tourer will be thrilled: the area is not crowded, nor are the huts. Away from the well-known routes, you will enjoy more! 

Possible peaks are Piz Borel (3000m), Sustenhorn (3503), Blinnenhorn (3373m), Oberalpstock (3327m) and Monte Leone (3553m)...the rest is a secret..be surprised. If weather conditions are stable, we know where we will be going on the first day; if weather conditions are uncertain, the guide will decide where to go the second day. He will of course explain what options there are and he will consult the group. Exciting! 

During the tour we will enjoy skiing off piste on the best snow the guide can find. With a little luck there will be powder on the northern slopes and soft firn snow on the southern slopes. It is very advisable to spend a day or a weekend skiing in Andermatt, prior to the start of this moderately difficult to difficult tour.
