Classic Haute Route Chamonix - Zermatt
The ultimate challenge for the experienced ski tourer
The classic Haute Route, the ultimate high alpine tour for good skiers with ski touring experience and an excellent level of fitness. This challenging tour takes us to heights between 2000 and 4000m, and along famous four-thousanders like Mont Blanc, Grand Combin, Dent Blanche and of course Matterhorn.
After a first day's ski tour in the Chamonix valley, to check our material and to acclimatize, a taxi van brings us to a hotel in the Mattertal, at the end of the day. A day tour in the Zermatt area is the next step, followed by a night in a small hotel in the cosy centre of Zermatt.
We then make our way down to Chamonix with stays in mountain huts and, halfway, in a hotel.
In this touring week you will most likely climb one four-thousander, the Breithorn (4164m) and some three-thousanders such as the Tête Blanche ( 3724 m). Through Arolla and Courmayeur, skiing down the Vallée Blanche, we will finally arrive in Chamonix, ‘Capital Mondial du Ski et d’Alpinisme’!
You should be flexible enough to accept any changes in the programme, because due to circumstances some of the stages might have to be changed. But no worry, this is our specialty. We know the region inside out and we will always find a suitable alternative.
As a grand finale of the Haute Route at the end of April/beginning of May, you might, under the right circumstances, climb Mont Blanc on skis.
